Matt Briggs is an information architect, technical writer, writer, and software developer whose work focuses on structured content, semantic systems, and tools for working with complex information.
At Microsoft, he helped design structured content frameworks for Microsoft Learn, working with modular content, metadata, JSON-LD, taxonomy, and knowledge systems. His technical work has included developer documentation for Azure, Kubernetes, APIs and SDKs, infrastructure as code, data governance, and large-scale publishing systems.
His independent work explores linguistic analysis, information retrieval, semantic modeling, knowledge representation, and human-centered software. He develops software and publishes research and writing through Final State Pre
He is also the author of several works of fiction including The Remains of River Names, The Strong Man, and The Double E. His novel, Shoot the Buffalo, was a finalist for the Washington State Book Award and won an American Book Book Award. Recent work has appeared in Bull Magazine, Pacific Literary Review, and Moss. He is a graduate of The Writing Seminars at Johns Hopkins University.
